Chris Broach (of Sunset, Braid, The Firebird Band, L' Spaerow, and more) has released many records, toured the US, Canada, Japan & Europe, and continues to do so with many of his projects. Aside from the current members of The Firebird Band, and the guys in Braid, Broach has performed, traveled, written and recorded music with a myriad of talented musicians throughout his career. He cites his influences as "bands like Joy Division, The Cure, Fugazi, Sea & Cake, The Pixies, Miles Davis... friends' bands, and new wave, electronic and jazz... rock and pop and indie... the list goes on and on."
While blending his influences into his own style - from The Firebird Band's "The City at Night" to Braid's "Frame & Canvas" to L' Spaerow's self titled album and everything in between - Broach never tries to do the same thing twice. Broach's emphasis is on his growth as a musician and a writer. "If I'm not doing something new, I'm not doing anything at all," he says. "[What I do] all depends on my influence at the time. Sometimes a simple song with three chords and a guitar is new to me, and sometimes it sounds re-hashed... it depends on where I am emotionally, what I've been listening to or not listening to, and what it is I'm trying to accomplish."
